I just watched a robot at the Olympic basketball tournament halftime show make a three point shot followed by a half court shot. The robot had humanoid “hands” and they were huge. I’m wondering if they can program the robot to “sit” and take a hapless naughty across its lap and deliver an OTK spanking

I'm sure some would love to see the robot spank some of the athletes. Maybe the girl who tested positive for marijuana. Take a spanking, then have your suspension lifted.
And certainly the attire they compete in would make a spanking very effective!Though I see there are complaints about how female athletes are required to dress even though some would prefer to wear uniforms less revealing.
Thats a switch, complaining about wearing too little instead of being told "put some clothes on, girl." Calls to mind an old newspaper cartoon called That'll Be The Day" where a teenage girl is trying on a pair of jeans and says "Let me try on another pair, these are too tight." The punch line being that no teenage girl would say a pair of pants was too tight. ( Or a pair of shorts too short or bikini too skimpy).

As far as I know, no it wouldn't, at least not how you'd think of it. A spanking is a swift slap with bounce-back (high impact richochet) action. The robot in the olympics is a smooth action, swift motion, but absolutely no bounce back. It might be able to deliver a single stinging slap, but with all the effectiveness of a car door closing on your finger (the hand would impact and stay impacted). At the rate of progression, you might be able to get an enjoyable spanking effect from such a unit in about 60 to 80 years.There are several spanking machines out there right now, but they hardly look like a person, don't provide a good area of coverage (repeatedly spanking the same spot), don't restrain the spankee from moving (which is both a good and bad aspect - the spankee can shift position to change the area of coverage, but they might "lean into the swing" causing more than intended harm).

The ball throw is a single, swift action, but it goes in one direction only. This techology is hardly new. I believe I recall seeing a similar display over 20 years ago. The only difference being this robot picked up the ball itself. Aside from that, the distance judging techology is nearly 40 years old. Improved, yes, but hardly new.

Gee! To devise a good spanking robot seems to be a real challenge. Maybe this is a golden opportunity for some hard-working inventor/businessman/venture capitalist to make a buck! And serve humanity at the same time!

Speaking of the Olympics, young Kayleigh McKeown let out a f*** yeah during her post gold medal winning poolside interview. I wonder if a spanking is in her near future.

It is! and do you know what is more? It has been a challenge and the "holy grail" of automation, and robotics for over 100 years! There were self-propelled boots on a circle that a guy bent over and turned a lever that propelled the circle to spin and give himself a bunch of kicks to the butt. There have been numerous ATTEMPTS at spanking machines, all of which failed because they were either too brutal or not enough. The Goldilocks zone, which is the holy grail of robotics and automation (with regards to spanking or regardless of it).

Personally, I'd love a spanking (ro)bot (for you Brits that think "bots" means something else) that would TAKE a spanking and react like a female spankee would (and look good at the same time natch'), but that is YEARS away from development, but MUCH sooner than an android spanker. Making it "appealing" and react like a real giel, is that holy grail

So, yes, golly gee wiz, all it might seem like is just somebody with enough gumption, money, and just the good old college try to make it happen, but no. The reality is that robotics, and automation and seeking to resemble human form and function is a long sought after pursuit, and one that is a prime interest of freaky geeks like myself since I was old enough to think of such things.

What you need is:
a swift action act AND retract mechanism (VERY hard to make AND have it last long), then at the same time, you need something that can also move mass (enough mass as to make an impressive impact), which also means it has to have enough mass to stabilize it (so the (lets call it what we are really talking about here) an android doesn't fall over from the wildly swinging mass), let alone the ability to restrain the spankee so they can't slip away, and for shits and giggles, lets add in that the android is aware enough to not go overboard and cause undue pain or damage...
That's a pretty tall order of requirements that is simply NOT available. at. this. time.

Modern era spanking machines have the "swift act and retract" AND last more than a couple of uses, but the can't move any larger mass than a switch/light cane, or a very lightweight paddle made of lexan. There are, of course, very bulky machines, that IF it was put into an android body, would make the body of the 'droid about 15' tall. Meaning the android would be very heavy, lethargic, unlikely to move itself, and thereby remaining seated to allow it to be more functional. However, since it now doesn't have to move itself, it's mass and size can be reduced, since you're now talking about a "simpler" spanking machine.

I'm trying to dummy this down to layman's terms as much as I can so it can be understood by all, for what you (generic/plural use) are asking/suggesting and why it is not possible at this time. If you'd like, I can use more technical and detailed explanations, with supporting documentation of the projected future of robotics.

The basics are this:
15-25 years to make an android
another 15-20 years to make it affordable
and I'm tacking on another 5-10 years to make it "spanking" oriented, and allow for testing for it to be sagfe.

So, by the experts (and my adjustment), 35-50 years. I was less optimistic, and said 60-80 years.

Look, I'm sorry. I'm not trying to sap the fun out of projective imaginings. I just take such questions seriously, and try to point out realities of the possibilities.

I've written at least one story on this topic. It doesn't involve a robot, but, well the title says it all:
The Pennington Automatic Discipline Booth

Walk in, obey instructions, and the spanking happens. Don't follow the instructions and the booth stays locked. The booth isn't going anywhere and the girl has to cooperate to leave.

In the story the girl is curious and goes along, but as I type this I'm wondering if I can find the time to write another version where the girl accidentally wanders in and can't leave until she's spanked.

When the subject of spanking machines and robots comes up I first think of that scene in the Superman comics where a robot spanks Lois Lane.
The spanking is not nearly as funny as the next panel where Clark Kent notices her eating standing up and inquires why and she tells him she thinks it will aid with digestion!
