What Belsteph raised is a good point: it does seem to make a difference in your outlook if you have had experience spanking or being spanked. I'm not familiar with the Christian tradition you mentioned, but many do feature domestic discipline by the head of household.

Welcome and thanks for the explanation. Might have to use that citation in a future story. Most of the biblical verses I have stockpiled are variants of 'spare the rod and spoil the child.' I'm from the Southeast where I'm sure there are a number of folks with your viewpoint on family dynamics.
