Veggie Spankees?

I was recently visited by a new spankee; we'd met on FetLife. She was delightful company and a pleasure to spank, with a lovely round bottom that blushed very vividly. Just one aspect of her visit surprised me, though. I'd put out a small selection of spanking implements to find out which ones she might best respond to - but she told me that, as she's a vegetarian, she didn't want me to use anything made of leather. So I used only wooden implements.

Her choice, of course - but it wasn't a preference I'd ever encountered before. Anybody else had a similar experience - or are there any vegetarian (or presumably vegan) LSF members who'd concur with the lady?

I haven't encountered that personally, but it's totally understandable. I suppose leather implements are far less widely discussed than other animal products that people encounter, so we don't think of it in the same way we're aware some veggies won't wear leather shoes or have a leather wallet.

I'm a vegetarian but not particularly bothered about leather.

A friend of mine is a vegan, and he refuses to use leather implements. I would say it's more common than we think, but perhaps just not immediately obvious. For example it would not be unusual for someone to say that they just don't like playing with leather, and that it's otherwise a hard limit for them without explaining that it's because they're vegan or vegetarian.

I'm pretty sure there's a Nik Zula cartoon that uses 'veganism' as an attempted excuse to avoid punishment with a leather implement!

Maybe a good Christian pacifist would try to get out of a spanking by arguing that he is opposed on principle to violence?

Perhaps a devilish sadist would INSIST on using leather on a radical vegan? It's supposed to be a punishment after all. LOL Maybe even beat them with a live cat instead of a cat o' nine tail flogger?

Good grief. If people spent HALF as much time and concern for human suffering, the world might be a very different place. I mean really.....does the person rejecting the use of a leather implement think that by not using it the cow it was made from will be magically resurrected?

I think we'd all agree that negotiation and consent are incredibly imporant parts of TTWD. To the extent that a spankee (or a spanker for that matter) does not consent to the use of certain types of implement, whatever the reason, then that needs to be respected.

Either way, I don't see anything particularly offensive about a vegan or vegetarian choosing to not play with leather implements, much like I don't think it's offensive for a vegan or vegetarian to choose to not consume animal products more broadly. I gather that the OP is based in the UK which is still, by and large, a free country (notwithstanding some recent moves to implement some puritanical laws). As the OP I think quite rightly noted: "her choice, of course".

Wood also comes from formerly-living organisms. Some of the ingredients in plastic come from dissolved dinosaurs from millions of years ago.

Yes, I did wonder whether a convinced environmentalist might refuse to be spanked with anything made from dead trees. In which case, I guess hand-spanking might be the only option....
