I have often debated with myself how I would behave if given the power to inflict real CP on girls. I like to think that although I wouldn't pass up the opportunity, I would be a kind and responsible disciplinarian, but I'm not confident of that.

Would you really like it if things changed so that we all lived in a society where CP was used and was socially acceptable?

It wouldn't just be in schools and the home but also part of the justice system (last week's report of a 20 year old girl gaoled for 18 months for causing death by dangerous driving would have been of her being birched instead). Could be in places of employment too.

What about eg schoolmasters being able to bare and thrash teenaged school girls? Think of the opportunities for abuse.

I can answer with an unequivocal 'no'. I really think that would ruin the fetish for me. I much prefer things as they are. In real life, corporal punishment can be very brutal and unattractive, but in our parallel universe of spanking we can make it something positive and magical.

Yes, I would support the moderate use of CP in schools and perhaps in some parts of the judicial system. Certainly I would not have punishment on bare bottoms in schools, maybe it would be more appropriate in judicial use where same sex staff would be punishing offenders.

In reality, it would be horrendous. When I experienced real, non-consensual CP I experienced it as sexual assault. Corporal punishment is ineffective, brutal and frankly lazy. While my fantasies are filled with cruel, spank-happy tops who punish me for the slightest infraction, I'd be very grateful if non-consensual corporal punishment entirely vanished from the present world.

"Think of the opportunities for abuse" may be the key thing from the OP. We're much more savvy about such things now and immediately suspect any advocacy for the restoration of genuine school or domestic CP to be driven by fetishism And I basically think that's right. Not that I wouldn't put it into a story, of course.

Good God, no. Absolute autonomy over one's own body is one of my bedrock political principles, and while this can only be true in modified form with children (we don't let them get tattoos or use drugs, we do confine them to the house or their room as punishment) children absolutely have the right not to have pain inflicted upon them for the sake of causing pain. (As compared to, say, a vaccination, which to a toddler might seem abusive but is clearly not pain for the sake of pain.)

In fantasy worlds, it's much more fun to see corporal punishments as "fun" (as readers at least). In my fertile imagination, there are many times I've envisioned foolish, naive, or plainly bratty real-world women as perfectly suited to going over my knee for a solid walloping. There was even a hairdresser who once seemed to suggest I should do such for nipping my ear with the scissors. Since I never brought up the subject with her, it was odd and coming in from left field. She was young and only seeking to either looking for me to not complain to her boss, and/or encourage the "stupid/gullible man-thing" to coming back to her exclusively.

For real-life, no. I like my spanking fun to be with a consenting woman, or consenting woman who pretends to be non-consenting.
