Have people ever tried to make you feel bad about having an interest in spanking?

This is mostly (though not entirely) a generational thing. People my age and younger tend to be pretty kink-accepting, though granted this also might vary by country/region.

Yes. This is one of the reasons I only hang out with the "young at heart"

In my experience there is a great deal of tolerance for "unusual modes of sexual behavior" here in my own country of Sweden. The Pride marches held every year are like a great outdoor party. And when I have let my workmates (at my former job, I am now a pensioner) know about my spanking fetish there was no condemnation or ridicule. My workmates were just mildly amused. No big deal.

Isn't it in Sweden that you have some manner of "naked day" where "everyone" marches into the sea/ocean all manner of starkers, and that those activities are broadcast on TV? Or am I thinking of another Scandinavian country?

In my current home town, there is an activity called Burning Man that goes on far outside town, where clothing is optional, and it is guaranteed that no children will be anywhere nearby. That's as forward as we get around here.

I have never heard of any kind of tradition or such called "naked day". I have never seen any evidence of there being a day of the year where everyone goes naked into the sea or lake. But it sounds like it might be the kind of "goofy" tradition which might be developed in some European country. But I have no knowledge of it.

The Burning Man celebration in California (or is it Nevada)! I have read about that on the net! Some sort of "modern" tradition! Might be fun.

My apologies for confusing the matter. I didn't mean it was literally called "nude day" just some sort of expression for a celebration culminating with that. The fellow who told me about it (posted it for all the internet to know), is from "the Netherlands" his name is Pietre Antonissen (who doesn't make ANY cartoon art about women with exaggerated large bottoms, that get spanked, with public nude humiliation, and/or get their bottoms abused in some manner (need I put in a comment confirming this as sarcasm?)) who posted live news pictures from his TV which showed men and women of all (legal) ages stripping down in a park/beach before running into the lake/sea/ocean.
However, now I can't find that older post, but newer ones of live public nudity on TV shows he posts frequently.

It's in Nevada, and has been going on for 30-40 years? Relatively speaking, everything started in America is a "modern" tradition. One of the activities there is people go into a tent to get a butt "stamp" (applied by a paddle of sorts) One stamp per customer. "Don't come with expectations" is a good rule of thumb for attendees.

We do have one rather amusing tradition in Sweden. On a certain day in the fall, many Swedes eat a traditional food which is called "surstroeming". Translated literally, surstroeming means "sour herring". The food consists of herring fishes which are fermented and which come in metal cans.

So on the special day in the late autumn (I forget the exact date) that Swedish fans of this tradition feast on surstroeming - the fans all gather for a party in a little cottage out in the boondocks - and they serve spirits and equip themselves with plates and cutlery and then - then they open the metal cans containing the surstroeming! And when they do that the entire cottage is filled with the stench of what seems to be farts! (I know this from personal experience!)

Coz that is how surstroeming smells. The fermented fish apparently gives off sulfur compounds. But the taste of the fish is actually not that bad. Just a salty fish taste with a hint of almond flavour.

My first experience in telling someone else I was into spanking was not a pleasant one. We were 18 years old and I asked a GF to spank me - the next day she surprised me with a trip to her church so that she and her parents and her priest could try to "pray my perversion away." Good times.

Oh, how awful! Personally, I hate religion in all forms. I am an atheist by conviction.

There's a tradition in Scotland called the 'loony dook'. On New Year's Day numbers of mostly drunk or hungover Scotsmen and Scotswomen hurl themselves into icy-cold water. They're usually in fancy dress of some sort, rather than actually nude, though.
