It is only a few months since there was a forum notice about the passing of Norman Hunter. Now another of the 1960s/1970s Leeds United team has sadly passed: Jack Charlton, World Cup winner for England in 1966 and Honorary Irishman. Jack will always be fondly remembered in Ireland for leading Ireland to the quarter finals of the World Cup at Italia '90. Not only did it put Irish football on the international stage, but by restoring national pride and confidence Italia '90 arguably did much to sow the seeds for the Celtic Tiger and creation of modern Ireland. Ireland's favourite Englishman, RIP.
