That's actually an interesting question. There's the old saw about the upper and working classes having more in common with each other than either do with the middle class.

I would imagine the middle class as being the most squeamish about bare bottom and the keenest on using complicated demerit systems and behaviour contracts, with the working and upper classes being more authoritarian in style and "what the head of the family says, goes".

From the numerous stories I have read in spanking novels or general novels over the years there are stereotypes in each group. Generalisations and cliches perhaps, but there is nothing sinister about it.

It was since you said you like the spankings found in middle class homes and I wondered what the distinction was.

I grew up middle class and I have worked with people who were mostly middle class and I find that a comfortable, though often maligned, place to be.

There is something appealing for me about the middle class spanking environment, where the stereotype, perception, and my personal experience, portrays it to be safe, domestic and not excessive.

I have met a few middle class people who fake Blue Collar or Upper Class credentials, that is not me, I am what I am, and I am neither proud nor ashamed of it.

Hi Katie, I have been thinking about your question a little more, and I tend to believe it is about perceived stereotypes developed into a fantasy. Which I suppose most novels are to a lesser or greater degree. I also think the old three class system these days is not the same as it was 50 years ago, but my fantasies are set pre-60s anyway.

1. Upper Class = Etonian floggings like in the movie 'If'.
2. Middle Class = Hairbrush and Slipper spankings in the bedroom very much in the Enid Blyton style or some of Delderfield's works.
3. Lower Class = Belt thrashings not restricted to the buttocks.

I don't pretend to think that everything fits neatly in those three boxes because it doesn't, but fantasies are built around perceptions and stereotypes.

Those are often enjoyable stories.
