Sadly it has been announced that Norman Hunter, former Leeds and England footballer died as a result of corona virus. He was 76 and taken too young by a nasty virus.

Sorry to hear that. I was a big Leeds fan back in the late '60s & early '70s. Not sure how many of them are still around; I know Bremner died really young and I think Sprake died a few years ago.

Norman Hunter an iconic late 60s early 70s central defender. Strong as an ox and hard as nails, one of the hardest of a number of fearsome defenders of that age.
If it can get him then it can get anyone.
Playing today he'd be red-carded as he went on the field.

R.I.P. 'Bite Your Legs' I never knew he was a non playing member of England's World Cup winning(jammy buggers!) squad.

Jammy buggers! We won it fair and square. Best team in the world by far. Never in doubt.

I lived in Leeds at the time of Hunter's greatest days, and though they won plenty Leeds United were renowned as a dirty team, and back then referees were much more lenient. Obviously the main thrust of the dirty tactics fell on the defenders so it was more or less what was expected of him.

Hmmm! If goal-line technology had been around it would have been different. Anyway we beat you the following year to become Unofficial World Champions. 😜

I don't know about that! That Russian linesman was perfectly positioned to make an unbiased judgement in my opinion. I do recall that match against Scotland. It wasn't really fair because the Scots always tried harder if they were playing the English.

No excuse! Brian Clough had the right idea. Dirty team they were without doubt.
