Opportunity for semi-adult spanking themes?

The minimum legal age for buying tobacco in the US appears to have been raised to 21. Isn't this a splendid theme for reasonably credible spankings of people over 18?

So does the change in law recommend spanking as the preferred method of punishment for offenders?

This was one of the few things coming out of Washington that actually had bipartisan support. Most of the big tobacco and vaping companies support it (at least partially to ward off more restrictive legislation).

Glagla is right that this certainly creates story opportunities, since up until now it was 18 for smoking but 21 for booze, so most teen stories involving illicit behavior tended towards alcohol. Now, getting caught with cigarettes is illegal for teens (rather than just subjecting them to punishment because their parents object to them smoking). I'll definitely have to add it to the pile of potential story plots.

sheesh and i used to buy ciggies by the carton for my dad when I was 11. Then again, I was 11 in 1974!
