mj2001:
In "Blondie Hits the Jackpot" (1949) there's a scene near the end when the teenage girl who's been a brat throughout the movie comes to their house. She asks to speak to Blondie privately in the kitchen, and then admits that her lack of a mother has kept her from getting the spankings she knows she deserves.

Originally she merely apologized, but the studio head didn't think that a mere apology would do when a teenage girl's actions cost a man his job. Thus the spanking bit was added. Off screen, but audio.

My favorite bit of spanking dialog from an old movie, and this includes an actual spanking, is from Holiday for Lovers (1959). The scene features Gary Crosby, playing a soldier and Carol Lynley, playing the younger, spoiled daughter of a well to do couple. This is the B story line of the movie, the older daughter is also being pursued by a suitor. I believe Lynley is supposed to be just out of school age. Crosby after much verbal sparing actually puts Lynley over his knee and gives her the spanking she's been needing for years. The girls parents rush in alarmed by the girls wailing. Father is outraged but mom is clearly amused and I'd dare say a bit titillated. Crosby shakes out his hand in obvious pain and says, "Damn she's hard!" to this the still smirking mom quips, "Well, at least she has something to show for all those ballet lessons."

In the movie Meet me in St. Louis, the family is sitting at the table waiting for the father to come down to eat, they hear a crash and Margaret O'Brien says, "OH, I just remembered where I left my other skate." The father comes down sets the skate next to her and says, "After diner remind me to spank you." she says, "Yes, Sir." then they say grace. After grace she turns to her next older sister and says, "If I forget to remind father, you remind me, OK."

I always found that line to be funny and cute, even when I first saw the movie as a kid.

There's also an aborted spanking in Meet Me In St Louis. After Margaret O'Brien's intensely annoying younger sister character has managed to upset Judy's beau, she hauls the brat over her knee to spank her and then realises that she's wearing her nightgown, so pulls it up to deliver the spanking on a less covered behind. Unfortunately the next older sister says something to make them all laugh and the spanking doesn't happen. Shame, O'Brien's character really needed a spanked bottom.

Here's a link which I hope ticks the box - some snappy dialogue followed or accompanied by some pretty snappy spanking.

That is a wonderful collection of old classics. Thanks for sharing.
