Certainly this is not a drink but I don't know if we've taken notice here of the most obvious commercial reference to spanking, which is the shapewear-control garment (I love those euphemisms for "girdle"!), namely, Spanx. The obvious etymological connection is never mentioned by either the company (for obvious reasons) or those writing about its huge success (less obvious). The clear subliminal theme is that wearing a garment like this to flatten your stomach and make you look shapelier is like getting a hard spank on your rear end.
As with most such messages, it is far more effective and less likely to arouse objection when left unsaid but understood by its senders. |
