Some time ago, i made the statement on this board that the English translation of my real name is Wheatwine, and that I had concluded my ancestors used to raise wheat and make wine out of it. Someone pointed out that one does not make wine out of a grain, one makes wine of fruit. Now I have discovered a product called Wheatwine Ale. I haven't found any place close by that sells this product. Does anyone know where it can be bought? Thanks.

Were your ancestors German? If so, I wonder if the answer might be a confusion between Weiz (wheat) and Weiss (white) - especially since Weiss used to be spelt with the German double-s character, which some people (in immigration, for example) might mistake for a z....

Scotch Irish, actually, although my real name derives from another language. It isn't German, and I'm fairly certain the correct translation is wheat, not white. That was a good logical guess though.

I've tried Barleywine. It's beer too! Well, ale, to be exact.
