Spread legs.

Some authors position the recipient of a spanking with spread legs. No doubt the intention is to give free rein to the reader's imagination. But in a thread last November the practice of spread legs in videos of spankings was widely condemned. To me the desciption adds nothing and I wonder what others think. It is of course a trifling matter - a few words compared to the intention in videos to show as much as possible.

I am not talking of stories which have a sexual classification in the LSF where the spanking includes intimate parts.

For me a mention of spread legs would more likely be a turn-off than a turn-on, but it does depend on the situation and the setting. For some reason, I prefer to keep spanking and genital sex separate - at least in time (I don't mind at all a sexual scene after the spanking is over).

When it is pure punishment, especially not from a lover, I don't like any sexual involvement or inference at all during the punishment. To allow humiliating views of genitals is above and beyond simple correction to me. Not a view shared by some, the humiliation of exposing intimate areas is desirable by them. Witnesses to this humiliation is also difficult for me to accept, unless for a particularly deserving spankee. The bare bottom being punished is necessarily exposed, but it should be limited, especially in parental or non family spankings, in my opinion.
Having said that, there are occasions where it works within the context of the story, and as SNM stated, 'variety is the spice of life' and I agree with this too.

Its sort of funny, with my own writing. Even when the events in the story are about pure punishment, on a metafictional level its still about sex for me. So, I'm okay with that kind of exposure.

Personally on the whole (no pun intended) such descriptions do not add to stories for me, but it could be viewed from of course the sexual factor, the humiliation factor or further evidence of the spanker having total control of the spankee, along TPE lines.

We all have our favourite genres, scenes, characters etc, if 'spread leg' floats some peoples boat, then posters of such stories are ensuring these will be happy sailors.

In my mind, spanking is a sexually charged event between adults and a scene with legs open gives the reader an opportunity to imagine all the possibilities associated with that.

Yes, I have made a number of posts complaining about what I see in spanking videos.

The "spread legs" thing is simply an annoyance for me. When I watch a punishment/discipline spanking video, I'm only interested in the spanking, and the punishment aspect. In particular, the videos I seek out tend towards either parental spanking, or school settings, and in either instance the display of the genitals would be inappropriate. And so, in those scenarios, when I see the spanker pausing the spanking while he, for no apparent reason, "inspects" the spankee's butthole and pussy, I immediately judge that this "spanking" video was made by people who are not actually spankos; they are instead attempting to tap into the "spanko" market while simultaneously trying to appeal to mainstream porn viewers.

I don't object to seeing a pussy, I object to a pussy being displayed during a spanking when it is obvious that the only reason to display the pussy is to display the pussy.

I say this as the author of numerous stories that are inappropriate for this site, which include pussy displays.

(Apologies for continuing to edit/add on after my original post ...) I have watched plenty of bare-bottom spanking videos, where the spankee's pussy was visible, and had no problem with them. It's when the spanker stops spanking purely to show the spankee's pussy that I get annoyed.

I suspect that we all have our particular desires for spanking stories and videos, and we tend to get upset when one of these does not conform to our preferences. Of course that's why there are so many different stories here and videos available. It makes sense that an unexpected exposure of intimate parts carries with it the frisson of getting to see forbidden places. If the story turns into one with a sexual component, that is fine with me so long as it is made clear that that is its focus: this means that when the spanker (m or f) starts feeling the sub between the legs and teasing them sexually in this way, the story or video has proceeded past pure spanking. Not always appropriate for this site, of course, but these kinds of stories have their place as well.

I think a particularly hard spank giving the reader a glance of a naughty bit, vagina or anus between her spreading legs is exhilarating and adds to the enjoyment of readers without being sexual. It's about her embarrassment not sexual excitement.
