The British Dennis the M (who still appears in the kids' comic The Beano) was always a lot tougher than his US namesake - and got correspondingly treated far more severely. Almost every episode ended with the young delinquent across his irate dad's knee getting his bottom soundly slippered.

The comic strip's still running (it first appeared in 1951) - but in these PC days, alas, spankings are out.

Dennis did not get anywhere near all the spankings he needed. Really, never cared much for that comic. Guess I realized no parents could be that tolerant of a kid that obnoxious!

When looking at tolerant parents in pre-Spock days, one example that stands out is the movie "Obliging Young Lady" (details at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033968/ ). The "young lady" in that movie is a preteen who enjoys putting tacks on chairs, tying shoelaces together, etc - and there's never even the suggestion that she will get a pat on the rear for any of it.

Yes, in some ways she was a female version of Dennis the Menace.

Not sure if this comic would have both or even one of the spanking scenes. The paperback book didn't have the famous spanking scene in it. She is merely dunked in the trough and they go home. In the first spanking scene the coal shovel is replaced by the chess board. I assume the paperback was written from the screenplay and not from the finished production.

This is a different direction for this thread,comics where a spanking instead of some other consequence for bad behavior would have been interesting.
Remember those Charles Atlas bodybuilding ads where the "97 pound weakling" gets sand kicked in his face at the beach and threatened by the bully when he complains? He takes the course, develops his muscles and punches out the beach bully.
How about instead of a punch in the face, he turns the bully over his knee, pulls down his swim trunks ,and gives him a barebottom spanking right there on the beach, to the amusement of onlookers? Would have improved the this comic strip ad greatly,IMO. Perhaps also a panel showing the humbled bully sitting on a pillow.
Do not know where a strip like this might be found. Most sites devoted to comics spankings focus on M/F and want nothing to do with M/M. I wonder if there are any such spanking art sites, for M/M, or for that matter F/M or F/F.

Atlas always claimed that the ads were a bit like something that actually happened to him, and what caused him to develop his system and build his body up. He was the 97 lb weakling who was beaten up and humiliated by someone bigger and stronger (although it didn't happen on a beach or in front of a girl he liked), so he built up and then returned the beating to the bully.
