spkcomics:
It is very nice to see how the spanking was common in mainstream comics.

There's a long-running comic strip called "For Better Or For Worse" by Lynn Johnston that occasionally features spanking in it. I think it pretty much ended but they're currently running older strips again, kind of like they've been running old "Peanuts" strips for years since Charles Schulz died.

Good luck with your blog. Any plans for UK comics like the Dandy and Beano? Buster Brown? French Bande Dessinee?

"Buster Brown" would be great from my perspective, because youthful Buster occassionally ended up being spanked by his beautiful young mother (usually via her hairbrush), sometimes while his dog Tige looked on with amusemment.

There was even one comic strip which ended up with the boy bending over the back of a chair, his behind pointed upward and the hairbrush already placed on the chair's seat, expediting the inevitable before his mother had even discovered his most recent mischief.

Buster was portrayed as a sweet kid with somewhat questionable judgment, based on those early-twentieth-century comic strips I've seen...

Great site. I enjoyed most of them. I love seeing girls spanked more than boys, but it does bring back some memories of ones I had seen in my youth. Finding the old comics may be harder to find as many of the old collections that may have had a lot of these finds died with their creators. Chicago spanking review does have a data base and while he does not show kid spankings he does list them and he may be able to tell you where to find some that have not been printed or seen for awhile. I can remember many of them as I had a large collection, but got destroyed in a move several years ago. There was a Russian site several years ago that did have quite a collection of the old comics that you are looking for. Harvey comics had the most followed by some strips Little Iodine, Lil Jinx, Katy Keene and her sis, The Smith Family, The Berry's and Nancy. Good luck with your search and I hope it continues to grow. Have a great day.

Legend of the Stargrazers featured spankings in 2 issues. Number 4 (Feb, 1990) had a panel where a father is giving one of his sons a bare bottomed hand spanking, wile the other son is rubbing his bottom, having already pulled up his jeans. Number 6 (June 1990) featured Julie Green (the central character of the series)) getting an over the knee hand spanking on the seat of her jeans. Inside, she is remembering getting a similar spanking from the same guy. The main difference is, on the cover she is getting spanked with his right hand. Inside the spanking is given with his left hand.

For Better or Worse ended when the artist was diagnosed with a neurological condition that slowly leads to blindness. For the past several years she has been rerunning the old cartoons, updating them as needed. As a result, most (if not all) of the spankings have been removed from the new version.

The good news is that her eye sight is doing better than expected, while the bad news is that she had to rethink her retirement. Her husband, who forms the basis for the dentist in the comic, cheated on her, leading to a divorce. Other than that both her kids think that the adult life that she wrote for them was entertaining, but neither turned out the way the comic kids did. Her son ended up much closer to the comic character Wheezer than to the comic character based on her son.

Sorry to hear about Lynn Johnston's troubles but I'm glad she's doing better. Thanks for the update.

Oops - I said Wheezer when I meant Weeder, aka Weed.

Josef Myron "Weed" Weeder
A professional photographer who was Michael's university friend, roommate and later journalistic partner. Weed had a strained relationship with his wealthy family, especially his father who initially wanted him to abandon photography and join the family business. His father finally reconsidered Weed's photography business and was impressed enough to heavily invest into it.

The real life son that Micheal was modelled after became a photographer and quarreled a bit with his family over that.

Good to know. Thanks.
