Miley Cyrus again, sort of spanking, definite ageplay related.

Not my thing, but I can can give her a nod for competence within her genre. Her tone though, as is typical for popular singing, still does not have the 'bell tone' clarity of good operatic singing.....but she hits her notes and seems capable of sustaining them. I enjoyed the exposure though. Thanks.

Would not try to compare what it takes to sing opera to sing popular songs.
Anyhow as an old hippie type, my favorite female singer,if I must choose only one, in terms of voice, material and so on, can only be Joan Baez!
Saw where Joni Mitchell is recovering from her brain aneurysm. She has always been a favorite of mine too, both as a singer and a writer of great songs like Circle Game,Both Sides Now, and of course Woodstock,even though I don't believe she actually performed there.But Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young,who did, recorded a fine cover version with Stephen Stills doing the singing.

Billie Holiday! No one can compare unless its opera and then I would say Maria Callas can move me in a similar way. Madonna and all the rest of these modern singers are talented enough but I don't think they can hold a candle to Lady Day.

(Sorry, the dialogue before she starts singing is all in Dutch. Then she sings in Italian. And she also happens to speak perfect English ... with an American accent. And she's learning Finnish, just because she's singing with a Finnish band.)

Redskinlover, if you like Joni Mitchell, you should listen to her Blue album (as an old hippie type, you will no doubt remember what "albums" are!). The whole album is exceptional, but the last 3 songs, River, A Case of You, and The Last Time I Saw Richard, are remarkable. And yes, it is ok to download them, as opposed to listening to scratchy vinyl.

I do have the Blue CD in my collection,agree its great.
And then there is that song of hers with "Carrie get out your cane" and "you're a mean old daddy but I like you" Wonder what those lines might possibly mean...

... and "he loved me so naughty, made me week in the knees"...

Again, she seems competent, but not exceptional. It's also difficult to know what her projection is since on the show she used a microphone. I will admit that for a metal singer, she possesses more versatility and talent than most might expect. (And she is pretty.) Thanks again for the exposure to someone I would not normally encounter.
