I've just come across something that might help break writer's block. They're called '50 Shades of Naughty Story Dice' - eight dice with picture symbols instead of numbers, that can be rolled to generate a random assortment of images (including locations, weather, emotions, sex positions, and objects such as vibrator, handcuffs, or flogger) to inspire a fresh twist to a stuck story. They're actually intended as a party game...

That's funny, because I already have a similar system, but using Dungeons & Dragons polyhedral dice!

Basically, I wrote up a rather complex "scenario generator", which is actually a listing of a crap-ton of potential scenario factors. I start rolling various combinations of dice, and by the time I'm done rolling dice, I should have everything that will appear in a scene.

Sadly, however, my biggest problem currently is with making myself sit down and actually WRITE. I can easily roll the dice and know everything that will happen in the scene. But the dice can't make me sit down and actually write it.

I've recently come to the realization that I don't have "writer's block". Instead, I'm suffering from a combination of "lazy ass" and "I have other things to do now". At the time I was writing the stories I have so far submitted, more than ten years ago, my life situation was such that I really didn't have anything better to do. I found myself in a situation somewhat similar to my early teenage years: I didn't have easy access to porn/erotica, so I created my own, in written form.

Now, I can look at all the porn/erotica I want, and I'm deprived of that old motivation.

So maybe I can find some new motivation. I think I've already mentioned this here, but I've been in discussions/negotiations with a local Domme ... I'm wanting to try "switching" a bit. We're finally meeting up on Monday, May 11, and she's going to spank the living daylights out of me (hopefully). So perhaps she and I can work out an arrangement where, if I don't produce a story, I'm gonna get it :D

I'm not sure anything is gained by trying to force ourselves to write when we're not in the mood. There's no need to think of it as a duty - it's not like there's a great shortage of spanking stories in the world! A better approach might be to forget it for a while, read lots of other fiction, watch lots of films, and then maybe (with luck) inspiration will strike out of the blue.

I'm not sure if this is going to be exactly on point but I'll give it a go. I am not a prolific writer and my stories are relatively short, in the 1,000 word range. The stories are so short that I don't really need a written outline--I can plan out the story in my head before I start and know how the story is going to end before I put fingers to keyboard. And I typically don't do series so don't have to worry about inter-temporal style differences.

The last story I submitted to the LSF, The Thrashing, gave me some problems. I started it well over a year ago and was not satisfied with it. I allowed it to sit and came back to it, reread it, tweaked it and still was not satisfied. This process was repeated several more times, until I finally reached the point where I felt there was nothing further I could do to improve it. At this point I submitted it. My problem also is that when I first started to write spanking stories, I had a number of ideas that I thought were interesting (and hopefully funny), such as buying punishment implements in a conventional store. After a point, however, I depleted my stock of ideas. I don't want to write a story just to be able to write a story. If I can't be excited about the story, how can I expect anyone else to be excited?
