Amusing, unexpected spanking reference in an interview

I just finished watching a relatively recent interview with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer (of Spinal Tap fame). It looks like some sort of "local" TV program, called "The Q & A Cafe With Carol Joynt". The host is interviewing the guys about their current projects.

At about the 40-minute mark, somebody's cell phone starts ringing, and Christopher Guest quips, "I guess that means there's a commercial?"

Carol Joynt, the host, replies, "It means somebody's going to get spanked after the taping!"

That is a good clip Rik, I love the emphasis Carol puts on the word "Spanked" and how she says it with out any laughing at all, makes me wonder if someone didn't actually get spanked after the taping.

She does very much emphasise the word spanked. I wonder if there's a nervous intern backstage somewhere. It was interesting how no one really reacted to the comment. It does kind of fit for the band, though. It's the sort of bizarre thing they'd be involved in.

She has a good delivery for air. Turning it into a joke for the audience, while delivering the message to the offender.
Also from my working in radio I agree that people who have ringing cellphones on air deserve a spanking.

BTW, watch the entire interview if you have time, it's a lot of fun.

Is it just me, or does Carol strike you as a switch? I'm primarily a Top, but I would let that woman spank me good and hard. And I'd spank her, too. Watching her body language over the course of the entire interview, I got some "sub" clues.

When I was working in conventions, our servers were specifically forbidden to carry their cell phones on their person while serving meals. If you're a convention attendee, you don't want some server's cell phone going off while they're serving you your meal.

Rik, your comment on conventions reminded me of a story I heard about the an Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. this was told to me as a true story, not a joke. (Although I think it is funny.)
The Bishop in charge of that episcopal area was presiding over the meeting and wearing a wireless mike. He forgot to turn the mike off when he went to the bathroom during a recess. One of the clergy in the conference realized the mike was picking up the sounds of the Bishop urinating. He ran into the bathroom, yelling, "Cut it off, Bishop! Cut it off."
The Bishop totally misunderstood the meaning of the cleric's comment and replied, "I can't cut it off."
