I recently came across a story where Boudreaux's Butt Paste was used for post spanking relief. To my surprise, it is a real product. It was originally invented for diaper rash, but now is used to treat "various skin ailments including psoriasis, jock itch, shingles, cold sores and acne".

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudreaux%27s_Butt_Paste has the information on this product, including its basic formula (zinc oxide, a blend of Peruvian balsam, castor oil, mineral oil, Paraffin, Petrolatum)

Now I'm wondering about the "butt paste". Has anyone ever heard of this being used for post spanking pain relief or did the author of that piece take a random skin care product and use it in a story?

I don't know the answer to your question, but if you just happened across this product, or even just mention of it, wouldn't you almost have to incorporate it into a story?

I'm familiar with the stuff and have seen it used for diaper rash prevention. As a real post-spanking cream, I think it would be useless. As a prop in a story, I think it's genius. I'm mildly horrified that I failed to think of it myself.

Ah - so it was wishful thinking on someone's part. Glad to know that there isn't a real antidote for a smacked bottom.

There is another product that I've seen, I think on the "Duluth Trading Co." website if memory serves, called "Monkey Butt" cream (or ointment). The illustration evokes the colorful hindquarters of some species of baboons (very red bottoms) but is clearly for diaper rash or other "irritations" of the rear area. It may have some local anesthetic in it as well so it might have some soothing properties after a spanking but I think its primary use is for young children with diaper rash. However, the illustration of a monkey with a very red bottom and a rather pained expression is very evocative of spanking, at least as I remember it.

The ingredients as mentioned by Goodgulf for the Boudreaux's Butt Paste would certainly have a soothing effect, but would not have an analgesic affect on the pain of a spanked bottom.
