Very true, Guy. I use firefox, and Februs suggests the same. I never did like IE. It seems these hackers and virus writers just have it in for anything microsoft.
This isn't really the case - the fault, in my opinion at least, is 100% Microsoft's. Well known for wanting to have a monopoly on all things computing and having done whatever was in their power to achieve this aim they suddenly discovered that a large majority of people didn't give a stuff about the operating system or Microsoft's latest bloatware or their attempts to lure or force people into upgrading to the latest Microsoft operating system. Instead, people were spending their time browsing the internet and probably using Netscape Navigator to do so.
So, Gates et al employed a whole army of people to build their own web browser. I suppose one might say that's fair play but of course Microsoft (in much the same way as Apple) doesn't like to have an even playing field and compete with other offerings on the basis of quality and fitness for purpose. So, instead of simply offering pc users the chance to choose between their own web browser (Internet Explorer) and whatever else was out there they made IE part of the actual Windows operating system thereby inflicting the vast majority of people with this piece of garbage software.
Of even greater consequence, however, were all the problems introduced when you make something like a web browser part of the actual operating system rather than simply a piece of software sitting on top of it. Consequently, it became something of a malware magnet and offers the greatest potential for the would-be hacker to exploit.
