I just learned that a relatively recent study published in the above-named scholarly journal provides evidence that those of us into bdsm/spanking enjoy, on average, greater mental health/well-being than our "vanilla" friends.

Makes sense to me . . . .

The funny thing is that I always looked at myself as normal and the judgemental vanillas as weirdos. Side note. Not all vanillas are judgemental.

The good news is that it's such a nice way to say something we always knew. The bad news that Spanking wasn't mentioned in the study...

So I now see. I had read a popular magazine article on the study that did use the word "spanking." In any event, without wishing to start a debate on the matter, I imagine that most researchers would include spankos within their bdsm category. In any event, the study strikes me as progress.

I can agree with this simply because it takes the weight off of one's mind in participating in these acts rather than hoarding them away; pondering over them day after day on what is right and what is wrong. It's sort of like Saturday confession and Sunday forgiveness. That person's mind is now clear and he/she is ready to move on.

The problem I have is with judgemental people in general not just vanillas.. It always disappoints me when I see people who are into some sort of kinky behavior who consider anything that is not their particular kink as perverted, disgusting or whatever.

For example spankos who are into the spanking of adults but think spanking stories involving anybody under 18 should be banned or those whose kink is teen spanking but think people reading stories of pre-teens are sick. Or how about those people for whom spanking in general is alright but any kind of enema play is sick?

Those are just a few of many examples of judgemental behavior among the kinky set.

Some of the kinkiest people are also the most narrow minded. As for me I may not be turned on by what turns you on but as far as I'm concerned it's "Different strokes for different folks." Don't try to dictate to me what I should like and I won't try to tell you what your interests should be.

Well said, TT.
