We are just finishing what will be the final chapter of The Librarian. It contains a scene at a French market where Jimmy purchases a martinet. I have written the French dialogue but would be very grateful if a better than me French speaker would check my words and correct as necessary.

Thanks to those who volunteered to assist with my French. I now have four versions of how I should/could have written the dialogue and some very (very) interesting information on the use of the martinet in French schools and families in the 1980s.

I will now mix and match those suggestions to produce the desired effect.

Geoffrey.

I think that one of us authors should cast you as a character in a story, as the strict stubborn father who insists he's right even when he is proven wrong.
