Mary Tyler Moore spanking

I watched an old rerun of Mary Tyler Moore tonight that featured a spanking. No it wasn't Mary's cute backside being spanked, nor did she give the spanking. Ted Baxter spanked his adopted son, David. As near as I could count, Ted gave David 13 licks on the seat of his pants, using his hand. (Although he did ask Lou Grant if he could borrow a hairbrush. Obviously the balding Mr. Grant didn't have one.) David didn't cry, but Ted began to cry about a third of the way through the spanking. After the spanking was over, Ted told David that he loved him and never wanted to have to do that again. David hugged Ted, and told him he was glad he was his father. All in all, a very touching scene. It was perhaps the most sympathetic portrayal of Ted Baxter ever on the show.

Wow! I watched that show every week and never saw/ don't remember that episode. I must have missed it. I never cared for Ted Baxter's character on that show, either.

I loved that show and I do remember that episode. It was a pretty easy spanking in Mr. Grant's office. I do remember Ted crying hard and the child not even whimpering. I did not like Ted Baxter on the show either, but that was a funny episode.

since it was a minor i do not think Chross wants it. the spankees have to be adults for his data base. Mary did receive a swat in Dick Van Dyke show with a rolled up newspaper to her lovely backside (judging by her expression it must have been a spur of the moment) and Dick Van Dyke to also give a great one slap to Babara Feldon in the movie FITZWILLY. i do think there were some other spanking references in the shows (Mary Tyler Moore; Rhoda; Dick Van Dyke; Phyllis;and all of the spin-offs around.
