Some like particular stories because of personal experience, some don't like stories because they're too harsh, some appear to suggest that there is only one type of story that is appropriate for this Library. This is FICTION. And, as with all fiction, some like it and some don't. Isn't that true of all stories?
Indeed it is. Tastes vary, levels of realism vs fantasy vary. Levels of serious intent on the part of the author vary. Few if any stories are liked by all readers, and most stories here are liked by at least some readers, judging by the comments.
I do think that an author's spanking (and other) experiences can and do inform that author's spanking fiction, but then all fiction tends to be informed by an author's experiences generally. Not that that means an author can only write what s/he has experienced -- if that were true, what planet did John Benson come from? But an experience of childhood or adult spankings can set the background for the way an author approaches spanking fiction in particular.
Some people are very distressed by depictions of spankings that seem cruel or unjust or unrealistically severe, or which would be if they were more than words on a screen. Other people take these as fantasy and have no problems, and perhaps even prefer such stories.
We should all read, and write, the sorts of stories we prefer at any given time, but should not, in my view, reject other people's different choices.
