The case worked it's way through the courts, and from what I (a non-lawyer) understand the court found that the child had been abused, but that the person who did it was not guilty because of the state laws regarding corporal punishment in schools.
Once again, those two words that keep coming up and are very important for a parent to know. 'Qualified Immunity.'
