Texas moms approve of same sex paddlings

It was not that their daughters got swats - one for cheating, one for mouthing off - and it was not so much the resultant bruises: it was that they paddling was carried out by a male that got them hot under the collar. Not as hot as the butts under the skirt of their daughters, but hot enough to get them some TV time on ABC.

Texas is one of 19 US states that permit students to be given corporal punishment: in Texas, there is an added rare proviso that parents have to opt in to allow teachers to swat their kids. Our two moms had given signed permits for their daughters to get paddled if their conduct deserved it.

But the school district does have a policy that punishment is to be meted out by a person of the same sex as the offender. Problem is that the district does not have enough female teachers to take care of so many female students, and are in the process of changing the rule to take out the same sex clause.

And their opposition to that amendment is how our two moms were able to protest so vocally that they got air time on local TV.

It's not surprising that Texas still allows school paddling, but this is the first I had heard of the "opt-in" provision.

So if the mothers don't like the new rule, why not just quietly opt out? They can always paddle their kids themselves if they agree they need paddling.

on the other side: I think the girl would have stuck to the detention if the paddling would have carried out by a woman. That's at least what I would have done in that situation.

From what I understand the school violated its own policy of always having someone of the same sex do the paddling. It said there was a female witness- why not let her do the paddling?
Wonder what the girl would have done if the choice had been swats over her clothes from the male vice-principal, or a bare bottom paddling in private from a female?

For a European, it is hard to believe that in a modern, civilized country cp in school is actually still allowed legally. But obviously that's not a joke and no hoax. And the opt-in / opt-out procedure, we have it here for receiving commercial advertising and things like that. Strange.

I guess I don't get it. They violated their own school policy by having the man administer the swat (s)? (I get the idea that there was just one). I mean you'd have to be brain dead as a male vice principal not to understand that there would be serious downstream consequences for doing that, especially if you hit her hard enough to make it visible with welts and bruises. C'mon she's a 97 pound little girl. Can you see the jury when they get a hold of this? The only issue in the civil suit will be damages. I say it's worth about $5,000 for medical and pain and suffering, but about $100,000 punitive.

What is amazing to me is these school girls are willing to go on the news and tell everyone they got the paddle and their mothers up there saying the same thing. What do they expect to gain out of this stunt? Did it turn the girls on, or are they hoping for cash...I don't understand. Most women I know would never have admitted to getting such at school...but then again I did live in another era.

This is crazy. Your dealing with the state of Texas. What do these mothers expect? In Texas, anything goes including teachers of the opposite sex spanking students, even on the bare bottom. It happens.

I have to disagree with Sebastian about bare bottom spankings in school being allowed in Texas.
I grew up in Texas and the Ft worth Area and was paddled, spanked at school on rare occasion..

However, private schools have been known to invite parents to paddle their own children in front of the principal and or teacher of the same sex as the child. While they may raise their skirts and spank them on their panties, never would the bottom be bared as it would threaten their license.
