Anyone one remember Dirty Dick, Ali Ha Ha and the Forty thieves, Jammy Mr Sammy and Big head and Thick head? A sad day for those of us that remember such wonderful characters as the Dandy is closing!

Indeed a sad day, though I really only recall Korky, Little Plum and Desperate Dan.

To be fair I confuse Beano characters with Dandy ones, so I might remember more, but I don't remember the ones you mentioned.

I read the Beano mostly, but did occasionally read the Dandy. It's very sad if it's to end after so many years . Does anyone remember whether it was the Dandy which had a "Milky Bar Kid" story, possibly on the back page? It was sponsored by Nestle presumably. I read an issue once in which the Milky Bar Kid got spanked otk by his father while nearby a young female friend was spanked otk by her father. It affected my young mind very deeply - more so than the Beano spankings as it was drawn in a much more realistic style. I'd be interested to know if anyone else here remembers that particualr story.

Ah yes the old cow pie, many is the time I have referred to my own creations as Cow Pie but never that big. I seem to recall the pies getting smaller in the later editions, containing only one cow each, must be to do with the health regime.

or perhaps the recession, now we know that the comc couldn't afford more than one cow per pie

There is a large bronze statue of Desperate Dan & Minnie the minx in the centre of Dundee. I pass it and smile every time I'm in town.
