We have a few with strange names here as well. I have often visited Toad Suck, Arkansas and my aunt lives in Hot Coffee, Mississippi. Toad Suck has a festival each year.

Not exactly place name but how about Savage and Lovemore. A construction company in South Africa. Near where I live there is a town called Bolsover, locals call it "Boser" And near to Boser is the village of Cuckney

Catmama you aren't giving full credit. there is a Toad Suck Ferry Dam there. imagine answering that phone . we in Oregon have a Wanker's Corner. BTW you can get TSirts from the store and tavern. i understand they are popular with Aussie and brits . Spanko's can appreciate Bunn, NC.

We have odd sounding place names, generally because of the way they're spelt using the aboriginal language. I used to live in a suburb called Mooroolbark and the name meant Red Earth, which was apt because it was everywhere. I always find Butte, Montana amusing and wonder exactly how locals pronounce it.

In the US we have a mountain range called the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. It was discovered by French explorers. Grand Tetons in French means Big Tits and they named them that as that is what the two mountains look like.
