Some of my stories are based upon my school days in the early 1960s. Although the names have been changed most of the narrative is essentially true.

She also picked on a student who was wriggling and inattentive and occasionally disruptive.

Maybe that teacher was obnoxious but why was being hard on a misbehaving student wrong?

She was a skinny little kid, only eight years old, could not sit still, and being impulsive, could not stay out of trouble. She was in the book closet at least twice a week being paddled. By Thanksgiving, it was clear that paddling was not an effective solution, but paddling seemed to be that teacher's only solution. She, the teacher, had a temper... She paddled to relieve her own stress not with an eye on helping a student control her impulses.

It seems to me that someone should have taken charge of the teacher. I wonder if the parents actually knew what the heck was going on. Very sad. Spanking with a temper probably left some kind of marks. Sounds like some type of compulsive disorder. As a teacher I wonder why she didn't talk with the parents.

You seem to forget that in those days teachers very seldom talked with parents.

Well, I consider it abusive and she sure as hell would have been talking to me. Not being argumentative here, ordalie, just very sad when it comes to a child. The way IC explained it, it seems the child had some kind of disorder, and the teacher had her own personal problems.

Sorry, I don't plan on making this a debate. LOL I'll hush up. It's water over the dam anyway.

What is this "real life" you all speak of? I thought we were all fictional characters here . . .

I have used my childhood experiences as a basis for my story lines. Some follow the real event quite closely. You may check some of my stories here but if you would drop me an e-mail I can be more specific. My e-mail is lvancisic1@yahoo.com - Louise

If teachers did talk to parents, then the parents would also paddle the student. In the past, a child was not understood as to the reason for their behavior.

I've recently written "Taking The Hit" about a meek girl who punches another who works at KFC for distressing her brother. This is variation on a true life story which would be instantly recognisable in our family (it involved KFC, a punch, being banned but no real life spanking!). The more you talk to kinky people, the more storylines pop up!
