Pease pudding is most traditionally served up here (NE England) in ham and pease pudding sandwiches, known locally as funeral sandwiches, because of the regularity that they crop up on buffets.
Personally though, I prefer in roast pork sandwiches when the buns have been pre-dipped in onion gravy.Mmmh!

In Michigan, we call that Split Pea Soup. I've only seen it made with plain green peas, though, never yellow.

Thank you so much for the explaination and the recipe. One learns so much from the LSF pages. It is positively an international experience.

O. K. I might as well look up some old recipes and start writing them up. Hey!!! We could have a whole section on all kinds of recipes (LOLOLO).

Any of our American female members prepared to pre-dip their buns in onion gravy?

What should I do, if I had not had the internet. Where should I find all that useless information, which now comes pouring in. But it is interesting to know, that what we here in Denmark call Yelow Pea Soup, in other countries is boiled into a solid state, where spoons are not necessary. Our soup is served with fat pork and/or sausage and slices of rye bread. All men like it, possibly because they remember, that it was served on the first day, when they became soldiers. It has the same side effect, as I understand, that baked beans have. A dormitory with 24 soldier, that has eaten Yellow Pea Soup, can be rather smelly.
