A Marriage of Convenience

Tales of new blended families are quite popular in the Library. Step parents with different approaches to discipline and particularly to corporal punishment. Teenagers finding themselves now subject to spankings from a step parent usually with the full support of their natural mother or father.
But I have tried to find a different approach to this scenario. In Marriage of Convenience we find a new neighbour helping out a single parent at their wits end trying to control their teen but reluctant to resort to spanking. Inevitably as the two families become more involved with each other, the parents initially cautious relationship deepens and develops with marriage and the establishment of a new blended.family.

Yes, it's a very productive theme to explore. My stories 'Ellie's New Dad', 'A Helpiing Hand' and 'The Night Katie's Life Changed' all develop variants of it.

There are numerous possibilities to explore in this scenario.

Yep, the possibilities are indeed endless, I have one I wrote a while back "The Neighbor" where a single male with now grown children helps the 40'ish mother next door with disciplining her two daughters when she has an injury, things go from there.

I thought that I hadn't written a 'blended family' story, but on re-reading it, 'A Letter of Complaint', in which a daughter and stepmother are both competing for the affection of the father of the family, qualifies.
