Exorcism Spanking?

Just had a fun idea for a story and wanted to see if it had been done before. As it says, what if exorcism but with spanking as the main technique?

This is sheer guesswork, but I imagine that whipping would have been an accepted technique for exorcism in mediaeval times. Worth doing a bit of research?

Whipping's still an accepted technique today for exorcisms, but I want to avoid the brutal, real life abuse cases in favour of a more lighthearted story of demon possession where the cure is a painful but survivable spanking/paddling on the bare bottom.

I'm sure I've read a story with a similar theme - I just can't remember where! In that case, I think it was the girl's mother who administered the spanking(s) in order to drive out an imp.

But yes, I can see having to spank a possessing entity out of someone.

I haven't come across a story with this theme, but I have faint memories of a real life case reported in the British papers many years ago. A young woman was stripped naked and laid on a table then several fellow church members slapped her with their hands to drive out the evil spirits. (I'm not sure which denomination, but it doesn't sound like C of E !) Not surprisingly, the affair ended with a court case.

Exorcism isn't just a historical thing. I was surprised when a friend of mine converted to Roman Catholicism a few years ago that having an exorcism was part of the process.

As Gloup I did one of those, "The Exorcist Nun" but if you read it, I think you'll find the receiver of the techique opposite to what you were thinking of. Do go ahead, it's a wonderful theme to explore which differs from the mainstream plot type here. It would be a great contribution to the library.

Great minds think alike! Yes, my conception of it is that driving the demon from the girl's body doesn't drive it from this realm, but forces it to take on a corporeal form.
