Story Idea: Millenials spanked more; Uber to blame; refuse to move out anyway

I occasionally come up with unique ideas, but soon forget about them. And I'm not born to write fiction either. So i decided to share my ideas.

Millenials are no longer interested in cars and drivers licences. They just call an Uber instead. This causes their helicopter parents much concern. They would prefer their kids (especially daughters) to drive their own cars instead of hitching a ride with complete strangers.

Also, the traditional way of phasing out spankings and taking car keys away instead, is broken. So their parents have to keep spanking even at later ages (against their initial vow to do the opposite when they started their family).

There could be spankings for using Uber, not studying for a drivers licence, or spending birthday car money on the top-of-the-line Iphone instead of a starter car.

Millenials stay at home for longer times, even if they have jobs. Parents remember that they moved out to avoid spankings at home. So they try to spank more, but to no avail.

These scenarios work nicely with the "go-along-to-get-along spankee" character type I layed out here.

I did a few stories that were a bit like that. "Returning To...", with a sequel or two, is up on this site.

Being entitled to the prosperous economy and booming job market that we were promised - but denied, due to the business practices of the previous generation - after being conned into paying for some of the most expensive education in world history, strung through a meat grinder of scam internships, and - for Americans at least - sent to die overseas to make the ruling elite even richer than they already were?

Here's another idea: venomous, narcissistic middle ager getting spanked for dehumanizing his own children.

If it is in fact true, which I somewhat doubt, that if millennials are not interested in cars and driving, that is not something to spank them for. Rather to commend them for.
This is a bit off the subject of the thread, but as one concerned about the environment, if these kids are trying to getaway from the car culture and the fossil fuel addiction, more power to them. Public transportation is of course so sadly deficient these days. Still,I commend any young person who decides to walk, ride a bicycle,or take the bus rather than drive.

For Some Teenagers, 16 Candles Mean It's Time to Join Uber
For generations of American teenagers, obtaining a driver's license was a rite of passage. But when Jonathan Golden, a scruffy-haired high schooler who lives in Santa Monica, Calif., turned 16 in November, he couldn't be bothered with the bureaucracy of the Department of Motor Vehicles. Instead, he wanted his own Uber account.

"It's like you're being driven around by your parents, but you don't have to hold a conversation with them."

Embracing Uber is a way of embracing car culture. If they were going green they'd be using mass transit.
