I'm not sure what it is about my Firefox setup on my main but I don't get full screen. I've found I can view the stories on the site with my tablet easily enough so I'll be using that form now on.

Hm. I should probably comment more. Honestly, I should contribute more stories as well. My last story/comment experience was a little weird, but I'll move on from it and do more for this excellent community.

I do not read as much as I used to and therefore, far less comments. I use to comment between 10 to 15 per day (sometimes more), seven days a week.

LMAO...I have thought of the perfect solution for this problem. Here it is...get ready...

Everyone on site comment on 1 or more of any of my stories before the end of the month. Since I have over 200 stories and if we guess at say 7000 members being on line between now and March 31, than we will easily go over the mentioned goal of keeping at over 2000 comments a month.

Now is that not a very simple solution to this problem. I am willing to make the sacrifice, but only to keep the comments above 2000 in March. Absolutely no other reason...

Please remember that we are not all long term members who have been exposed to numerous discussions on this subject before. I am still a relatively new member and author, less than a year, and have started 2 forum posts myself, so apologies to you who are "tired" of the debate!.
I simply wanted to understand the reasons, which are many fold, and I now have more understanding about the problem. There are some valid reasons, some insecurities, some apathy and some rather sad excuses. You choose what you read, if you don't want to read a certain genre, don't read until they are validated, you get a synopsis then! You can be specific if you use "search"!
We are sometimes surprised, pleasantly or otherwise, at the direction a chosen story goes, we may not always like it, but there is a wealth of fantastic stories here so we can surely get over a few that don't push our particular button. Some people have mentioned that they don't read much now, don't have time, but we are not asking about the number of stories read, we are asking why so many are read but not commented on!
I love to read the comments on stories I have read, it increases my enjoyment knowing what others think. The same goes for comments I receive on my stories, they make me think about the implications and impressions I have made, they are intended to be constructive, sometimes may be critical, but they should make us grow. It only takes a moment to make a comment, you don't have to read the others, just show your appreciation of the effort the author has made and be grateful this site is available to us!

I agree 100%. Whilst, as an author, I am not sure that readers should be forced to comment if they don't want to, not seeing what other readers think about stories I read would to me be a sad loss if the trend continues.

You're sounding a lot like njrick now, CS!

I have been guilty of letting comments slide at times too, but will try to do better. It is frustrating to see people reading your story without leaving any feedback, but it would be worse for them not to read it at all.

The dictatorship of the commentariat is of course only for a limited period, followed by the withering away of the state of being sore.

My own off the wall theory is it may have something to do with commenting on other sites, which seems to involve nothing more than clicking a 'like' button, making people lazy. However, I hope we never go down that route. Personally I would rather have a one-sentence comment than a thousand meaningless likes.

LOL - I just posted one of my stories over on FetLife ... and got pissed off when somebody "liked" it mere seconds after I posted it. I was all, "C'mon, at least read it first!"
