Hi, I don't know if people still know me, but anyway, I am most famous for my 'twin stories'. I was curious about something. Over this last vacation from school, I have spent a considerable amount of time rereading my old stories.

As authors, do you ever look back over old stories and think, "Wow, that was really good!" or "Yuck, that story totally stunk. I can't believe I wrote that!"

I also hate when I'm rereading a story and I see a spelling or grammar mistake. I feel like going in and editing it. And sometimes I think maybe I should rewrite a lot of the stories, like make Charlie a nicer guy. He sure seems like a jerk in some of the old stories. LOL

Anyway, just curious.

Yes, occasionally I re-read one of my stories and am embarrassed. But I rarely re-read them unless I've had a comment or unless I'm thinking about a sequel - and in that case, I generally feel positive about the original story! Sometimes I notice a small mistake, like a name changing, something that can easily happen if I'm writing two stories at the same time with similar characters in them.

Actually it can be more uncomfortable to re--read a story I wrote ages ago and note a subtelty or a credibility of small details that I suspect my more recent stories mostly lack.

Once I release a story into the wild, it "is what it is". Yes, I cringe when I find an errror (sic) or excessive punishment, but it somehow feels dishonest to go back and tinker with released stories. Those old stories represent a sort of window into my fantasy world as it existed then. My fantasies have likely evolved since then, so my stories do also.

Trust me, you are still famous.

A story should not be changed, but if an author later on changes his feeling for his characters -- why not use the comment page, he has the same rights a his readers?

I look back at some of the stories I wrote when first starting out and cannot believe anyone reads them, but it was what I could do at the time. My most read story is one I wrote 17 days after joining and it continues to lead the pack.

We all grow as writers regardless of how bad we start off at, and I think this is due in large part to the admins insisting we improve as writers. I may not like it when they send a story back to me for re-working, but I do know I have to learn.

This only happens to those in the Inner Circle. I never realised that personal coaching from Flopsy was one of your benefits.

I must either try to join your Inner Circle, or see if she will offer the same service to our very elite Sapphic Society.

Welcome back Sampast When I read the first spanking story I wrote, it makes me cringe.

I think we all inevitably improve over time as we establish our own personal style.

I am terribly confused by my own feelings. Sometimes when I go back and reread a story I thought I really liked, I find it simply horrible. Then I pick up a story I never cared much for, and think "Oh, that's pretty good!" The next time I return to the first story, I like it again etc. I suppose it is just a very emotional thing, much more so than reading other people's stories....

To be honest, I don't think my work has improved much in quality. It may have become more careful and technically accomplished, but that is not really what quality is all about. What has changed, is my motivation and ambition — when I began, I was mainly trying to satisfy the kink, now I am more interested in exploring relationships and psychological mechanisms, sometimes to the degree that I find it hard to work a spanking into the story! I don't really like to repeat myself, and this definitely makes things more difficult — there aren't that many essentially different ways to describe a spanking.

You could always do "version 2.0" if you really wanted to rewrite them. I would still keep the originals somewhere though, they're part of your personal history.
