Well, well, well... day number 3,652 is upon us, which means we're completing the 10th year of operation for the Library of Spanking Fiction. August 31st will be the tenth anniversary of the founding of our dear Library.
I don't know what sort of birthday bash Februs and flopsy have planned, but alas, I will not be around to enjoy it. I have plans to spend the big day paddling - no, not that kind, but rather a kayaking excursion on one of New Jersey's lovely lakes. Therefore I will jump the gun and offer my congratulations and best wishes now.
As we all know, the LSF is a special place for those of us (indeed ALL of us) who enjoy a particular genre of literature. As a writer, I have found it a welcoming place, offering me the inspiration, encouragement and feedback required (initially) to break a ten-year drought in writing and (then) to produce what I consider to be my best stories (and more than a few songs). Even though I don't write much these days - due more to other interests (like the OTHER kind of paddling) occupying my time than a re-occurrence of the writer's block - I will always cherish the camaraderie I've enjoyed here.
Far too many of my friends are no longer here with us. We know what became of Linda, bendover, barb and rollin who are all memorialized (with others) on the LSF "In Memoriam" page. Other members have just quit the Library for one reason or another, or simply drifted away, never to be heard from again - anitalynn, barretthunter, canadianspankee, catmama, corncrake, eve, flowerchild, Guy, Islandcarol, Janine, jools, KatieB, Kephren, Lincoln, minidancer, nibra, norah, Pinkangel, Sebastian, saetana, to name a few. And then there are those of us (like me) who are still here, but just not as active 7as we used to be, for whatever reason. And yet, there are some currently prolific and active authors who keep the place going.
No, things aren't as hectic as they were "back in the day," when a hundred plus new stories appeared every month, along with 3,000 comments, people gathered in the chatroom to chat, the Well Red Weekly entertained us (not weekly but more like) quarterly, the Challenges elicited (all too much) debate, and lively discussions played out on the Forum. And yet the Library persists, settling in more now as a quiet place to come and read, as perhaps a Library SHOULD be.
Rather than spewing any more sentimental claptrap, let me just offer a huge THANK YOU to Februs and flopsy for making this all happen. Happy Birthday, LSF, and many spanks for all!
