Comments record

Typically, on the first day of voting on story challenges there's often a relatively large number of comments made but I think this must be a record number of comments in a single day for us and since our resident statistician isn't around to see it I thought I'd better get a screen grab for him:

Is there a big dropoff on the second and subsequent days of voting?

That's all I have to say.

Well, actually not - the only OTHER thing I will say that this is as many or more comments than the library would receive in a whole month before the oft-noted "comments explosion."

Just to save Rick the trouble, that's an amazing 3/100ths of a comment EVERY SECOND!!

I would never have said such a thing. Really, now. More likely I would have mentioned (casually) that it was a comment every 4 minutes and 35 seconds.

NJ is really just being shy today. He really wanted to tell everyone that if we keep this up for the entire 21 days of voting we will have 6,594 comments on the Challenge stories alone, never mind the comments on the regular stories.

He also wanted to tell everyone that if we kept up the 314 per day for the entire month of November we would have 9,420, which of course would be over double our present record. However even if we only keep up 314 per day for the first week of November, by then we will have 2,198 comments.

I am not interested in stats, nope, not at all, however I hope everyone can share in getting not only a new daily record comments, but also a new monthly one.

I love getting comments as much as I love leaving them.

I'm with carol on that one.

Now that comments have been fitted with explosive devices, perhaps we should stop throwing them around or at least make sure a bucket of water, a dustpan and a brush are near.

I have to agree with Carol -- I love giving comments as much as getting them.
