I don't know how many people noticed, but over the first six days of March, readers posted over ONE THOUSAND comments. The Challenge stories are drawing a lot of these, so that once people have finished that reading, I would expect the numbers to taper off (no, I don't expect us to hit 5,000 comments for the month). Still, we've had contests before without having that level of comment activity.

At the end of February, I had thought of making a Forum post on the "Comments Plateau," since we've been chugging along pretty regularly with 2,500-3,500 comments per month (100 per day, 4 per hour). Then we had to go and have a stretch like this.

It's just another reminder that this Library is a healthy and vibrant place for those of us who enjoy spanking literature.

(Kudos once again to Februs, flopsy & Pink, and everyone else who helps)

You mentioned comments on the challenge stories but I'm unable to read or write comments on those stories myself. How about others?

You should be able to write comments yourself (and read your own comments), but you should be UNABLE to read anyone else's comments until after the voting ends. If you're truly unable to write a comment, then it's an issue you should take up with Februs, perhaps via a post to the Helpdesk here on the Forum (although I imagine he'll see your question here).

I agree, Rick. I've noticed that there have been quite a few new registrations lately, too.

I think it is the Challenge. For some reason readers tend to comment more on challenges. Is it because the authors are unknown at that point? Don't really know, but it would be interesting to have the comment counter on author pages turned on during the contest so you could see if your entries were getting traffic in real time. Last winter it was turned on, but for policy reasons Februs disabled it for the next 2 (and now this) challenge. I suppose one reason for this is that a voter could "see" who the author might be by commenting and going immediately to his/her page to see if the counter advanced and that could influence the voting.

Comments from others won't be visible until the voting period is over but you should certainly be able to comment. I'll need more info though if I'm to investigate such as what actually happens.

Well, we've gone and done it... again! Yet another record (yawn) for most comments in a month, even though there are still two days left in March - the 3,618 thus far topping the 3,605 from last May.

We've now had fourteen consecutive months with over 2,800 comments each (actually 2,834), and sixteen consecutive months with at least 2,592. This contest certainly seemed to generate a lot of comments early in the month, allowing us to coast to the record.

Will none you ever just shut up? You always gotta say something.

OK...what math class did you take njrick? 3018 was a lot less then then 3605 when I went to school, but maybe with inflation that is not true anymore.....LMAO
