First, I want to thank everybody who read and voted on "The Panty Parade". I also want to thank Februs and Flopsy for hosting the event.
Second, my congratulations to all of the other winners and entrants.
If there is one lesson to be learned here, it is to not get disheartened if you enter multiple challenges without winning. I received one honorable mention in the very first challenge, and then not a sniff of a winner until this one, several years later. So never give up!
They call them "Challenges" rather than "Contests" and the distinction is important.
First, it's about fun.
Second, there are no "losers". Why? Because there is nothing objective or even uniform about the scoring, so we all know that the best story doesn't necessarily win. And by the way, "winning" gives you little more than brief bragging rights.
But it's the "Challenge" part that gives us the incentive to turn out our best work! That bit of stress helps us grow as writers, and it helps assure a steady stream of high-quality material for the library.
So it's a win-win situation. |
