But I'm wondering how that affects my comment ratio. Anyone know if I go back later and re-open a story to leave a comment, does that count as one comment for two stories read?

If you view the same story a dozen times it still only counts as 1 view in terms of how the views to comments ratio is calculated. Also, once the challenge voting is over you don't need to view the actual story in order to leave a comment, you can just click on its comment icon from wherever the item is listed. See the new improved Help section on Commenting for further fascinating info...

Thanks for that info, Februs. I probably will need to re-open the stories to refresh my memory before commenting, so I'm glad to know it counts as only 1 view.

I'd wager that anyone who is actually concerned about his VCR will never really NEED to be concerned about his VCR.

I'm exactly halfway through the stories in the challenge, and the quality of the stories is pretty good. I do notice there seems to be a larger percentage of M/F stories (as someone else in this thread, or another thread, already pointed out). But is it just me, or do the stories seem a little . . . MEANER, than in other story challenges? Stricter, and sometimes just mean, spiteful characters, ones who the reader has trouble rooting for? And its not just when/if the unseen witness is caught and deservedly spanked for his/her sneakiness/voyeurism; just as often, the initial spanking, the one which is BEING witnessed, seems unnecessarily harsh, and the spanker, unnecessarily mean. I'm not criticizing here, just commenting. Maybe its the keyhole theme, maybe its the word limit, or maybe I'm imagining it. There just doesn't seem to be as many "lighter" stories, ones with sweetness and/or a lot of humor.

Maybe the next half will be different.

On a completely different note, I noticed that 3 of the stories exceed the 2500 word limit: two are 2502 words, and one roars past the limit at 2507 words. This blatant disregard for the rules is anarchy, I tell you, and shall not be tolerated! Where is our resident statistician when these grievous errors occur?

The above paragraph is not to be taken seriously, in case anyone misread my tone.

A tone like that definitely warrants a spanking, smeple! As does exceeding the word limit hehe

As soon as all 3 author's are identified I am sure Ms Thrashbottom will be busy educating them on how to count properly. If you think the stories were mean...just wait until those poor authors meet up with Ms Thrashbottom.

It could easily be a case of different programs counting words differently. I've looked at the "write a novel in November" project a couple of times and their website covers word counters.

From http://www.nanowrimo.org/faq/word-count/#howupdate
What if there's a discrepancy between what my word count said and what yours comes up with?

Word counters rarely agree with each other, and there is a good chance there will be a discrepancy between our counter and the one on your word processor. Some people gain words and others lose them. We'll have the official word counter available before the end of the challenge (in My NaNoWriMo –> Novel Info) where you can copy & paste your current draft for our count.

*Please note that word counts can vary by as much as 1,000 words. Over the years, we've noticed that participants who are working in Open Office often find that their word count doesn't match up with our validator. Please make sure to check your count on our validator prior to November 30th, so that you can see what your total number is.

Due to minor variations in word counting we allowed for up to 10 extra words so unfortunately we can't call on Ms Thrashbottom on this particular occasion.

Hi everybody,

I just achieve quoting all the stories. For information (I read some of you like ratios), my vote ratio is 5.08. My quotations include one 10 and quite a few 1....

Thanks to the authors, some stories are really very good ones (that means my kind of stories).
