I guess my definition of a spanking story has always been that the spanking drives the narrative and is the focal point to what's happening and why it's happening. A story with spanking has more of an independent plot, where consequences could feasibly be included, modified, or left out entirely without changing the focus or tone.
I really like Alef's suggestion, that a third category exists, one in which spanking is a focus, but encapsulated within the flow of a solid plot line. I think this allows for good prose, good character development, and an entertaining story line without shoehorning the obligatory smack smack smack into the mix. |
