The Philanthropist.

Please forgive me for patting myself on the back, but my latest novella, the Philanthropist, loaded at the weekend, received approx 1,000 views in its first two days.

The story, about a Victorian gentleman who embarks on a crusade to rescue, and discipline, young, destitute, women from the streets of London, comes in 14 chapters, so the feat is not as remarkable as it would be, if it were a single story.

Now, if only a quarter of those readers left comments it would be truly remarkable..... Perhaps they are waiting until they have finished the last chapter.

I'm in the middle of reading it, quite interesting. I'm assuming the gentleman is based on
William Gladstone, who went on similar searches to "rescue" young prostitutes and often brought them home for dinner with his wife! There is no record of him spanking or having sex with any of these women, although his diaries record him flogging himself whenever he had lustful thoughts. Those Victorians were an interesting bunch.

I enjoyed the Philanthropist and actually read some chapters twice, it is certainly up to your usual high standards. But as is usual, both the quantity and quality of my comments is somewhat lacking.

However if you have a total of around 1,000 views spread over 14 chapters, then I feel you may find the number of comments to be disappointing since 1 comment per unique reader is going to work out at only about 70 comments if there's only one for the whole serial per reader.

I'd be pretty happy with five comments per episode. Up to a total of 36 now, or 2.5 per episode, which is, sort of, gratifying. Thanks to all who have read, and extra thanks to those who have commented!
