If we're talking basketball, I want to mention my beloved Kentucky Wildcats. We were 26-11 this year, but improved a lot near the end of the season. We were the youngest team in the nation, 11 scholarship players, 8 freshmen, 3 sophomores, had more injuries that is the norm, and should be a lot better next year.
It was a very down season for KY, but despite given us other SEC teams a golden opportunity they still won the conference tournament yet again. But if we're talking about impressive performances, what about the Notre Dame women's team? They beat Connecticut and then went on to win the national championship despite losing 4 players to ACL injuries during the season. Of course I was pulling for Mississippi State, but that championship game was a lot more exciting than Villanova clubbing Michigan like baby seals in the men's championship.
