This one has been very well-received, so it may be worth highlighting it - a shortish, once-off story in the form of a TV transcript, with commentators telling viewers what's happening at a spanking race. Brits, especially those who watch TV horse-racing, may recognise familiar figures transmuted in Clare Baldy, Cecil Henry and John McHayrick, plus presenter Abbie Grogan from other sports. The commentators teeter on the brink of various faux pas and sometimes more than teeter, revealing various snobberies and the like as well as sexual preferences, and the action on the track keeps them busy.
I was pleased to see that American and Norwegian readers not familiar with the characters lampooned still recognised familiar things about sports commentary.
I composed it while walking in Leicestershire. Go there and see what happens. |
