I read a lot here and I'm influenced by many of the stories and many writers, sometimes blatantly. I've just submitted a new story that grew out of my affection for a story called, "Accepting the Unfair," by Placid. It was posted here back in 2007 (I think) and it's the only story posted from this author.
It's a father-daughter story, all about accountability and the need to choose one's friends wisely.
It has nearly 1,000 views and a huge number of Favourites. I was very taken with the "go get the belt - you know which one" part. I like to be sure to attribute parts to those I borrow from.
