I think that is my favorite spanking scene, because it was (or at lest looked) real.

The spanking in MacKlintock with Maureen O'Hara was OK, but you could tell he didn't spank her hard. I can't remember if there was spanking in The Quiet Man or not.

I did hear quite a few years back that when Richard Burton spanked his real-life wife Elizabeth Tailor in the film Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare, that a couple of times when they had fiery outbursts during the making of it, he did the spanking scene with her at home without the protection of the dress and peticoat getting in the way, how true that is I do not know and probably never will now they have both passed on.

I want to say that I read somewhere that Maureen O'Hara remarked that John Wayne did spank her hard and it made it diffcult to do other scenes that were shot after they had shot the 4th of July scene.
