It definitely has the best ending of any realist adult / child spanking story I've ever read.

I have read this story. Agree that that is a good line, but Mr. Carter is not a very nice person at all. His relationship with his young son is hateful and abusive, which is why he meets a terrible fate at the end of the story.

Exactly - which is why I feel it's "One of the best, mainstream, short stories about spanking" when children are involved.
