If there was spanking on every TV show, even just a threaten or one or a reference to one of them maybe happening, it would normalise the concept of spanking. I'm not sure if that would be a good or bad thing.

Though technically not a TV show, Veruka Salt was probably the most deserving character. (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory,

I remember once on NCIS, Gibbs was telling Abby something and she said, "So, you'll slap the back of my head like the boys."
He said, "No, it'll be somewhere else."
I wanted to see him do it to see if he meant what I thought he did.

I was watching one of the nostalgia channels. The name of the movie was, Meet Me In St. Louis from 1944. The father is called down from upstairs for dinner and he is heard by those at the table rolling on a skate that had been left out in the hallway. He comes down and puts it on the table in front of his youngest daughter. He tells his daughter to remind him to give her a spanking right after dinner. "Yes, daddy, I will," she says in a sweet voice. Her older sisters nervously smile obviously thankful it is not their bottoms. I wanted to contribute this new 'spanking mention' because I always enjoy others post to this thread.

There's a scene in Meet Me In St Louis where Judy Garland is going to spank younger sister Margaret O'Brien, but the oldest sister manages to stop it. Shame, because Margaret O'Brien's character coukd have used a good spanking.

If we are mentioning things like this...
There's a scene near the start of "A Hole in the Head" (aka the Frank Sinatra with the "Ant can move a rubber tree plant" song) where Frank's character is chatting with his young son - who is in PJs because it's 2:00 in the morning and the boy only stayed up so he could show his father the eviction notice that came - where the son bends at the waist and Frank lands a playful swat on the boy's backside. This leads to a playful wrestling match.
Later in the film, in an effort to drive his son away so the boy can grow up in a good home, Frank's character hits his son - in a completely different way with a completely different reaction.

Currently watching the Outlander series, actual spanking (belt & bare bottom) in 1st episode of season 1 second half, having watched Clare's daughter's reaction to her mother's revelations (last episode season 2), I do believe strict Maternal Discipline via an old fashioned hairbrush was called for.
