60's TV series. Japanese adopted boy and housekeeper?

I have a very distant memory of a regular TV program from the 60's (broadcast in Ireland in the 60's it might have been broadcast in US in the 50's). There was a star, a 'Bachelor' along the same lines as the host character in 'I dream of Jennie' and a male Japanese house keeper/cook. The star also had adopted or fostered a young Japanese boy.
There was one episode when there was a reference to spanking. It involved the boy being teased by a Japanese girl because, according to her, all real Japanese parents used corporal punishment and the boy wasn't a real Japanese if his adopted father didn't use CP as well. I am probably not explaining it very well.

I have never seen any reference to this 60's program even on website specialising in 60's TV dramas. I wonder if anyone has any memory of it.

Could the characters have been Chinese rather than Japanese?

I did look up Kentucky Jones and it is possible I mixed it up.
In the story I remember , they all, son father, the girl and her father, go to a Japanese/Chinese official who confirms it is traditional to use a special cane. Then the father and son make use of the official's office and cane The office has a couch for the boy to bend over.

Neither really want to go ahead with the punishment, the son naturally because of the pain , and the father because he does not agree with the tradition. In flexing the cane against the couch they discover the sound is the same as the punishment. The scene switches to outside the office where they can hear the strokes of the cane, but obviously it is the sound of the cane on the couch.

However the girl is now misbehaving outside the office. So when the father and son come out of the office the girl's father asks the official permission to use the office and cane and when they go into the office we can then hear the strokes again.

The final scene shows the boy and girl together at a lunch. The boy sits down and makes room for the girl to sit. Her bottom is too sore to sit and she then realises that the boy wasn't caned at all.

That does sound like 60s family entertainment. I've looked around a bit but I can't find anywhere to watch or download, Amazon is selling DVDs, and that might be your best bet.

One of my favourites from that era is from Gidget, a scene towards the end shows our heroine bent over the couch while her older sister and brother-in-law spank her bottom in tandem. In her traditional end of the show monologue Gidget is sitting on a pillow.

Due to a bit of confusion on my part, I picked up copy of this series (Kentucky Jones) on DVD - in German. I didn't hear the girl's caning but other than that it was the same scene.

I think that must be the program I remember. I will try to find it on DVD. ( Although, as I get older, I find that the memory is often better than the reality. !)
