On YouTube I came across the following by J. Draper:

if you are not obsessed with anything weird and niche please try harder.
Stop going out for a while.
Consider getting weirder about the things you already like.
The so-called "general audience" doesn't exist; it's fiction made up by advertising executives.

Most of the time, great art and literature is made with the intention of pleasing no more than 4 or 5 specific perverts of the author's acqaintence

- How is a pervert defined?
- Is an English pervert different from a German pervert?
- Are we all perverts?
- Are authors normal people and only their acqaintence are perverts?
- Is this a quote from somewhere?

Personally, I think you have to be a pervert to please a pervert most of the time.

I believe the term "pervert" often is defined as a person who don't care about the limiting restrictions of society and instead enjoys life according to his or her preferences.

- Is an English pervert different from a German pervert? Possibly. In popular culture they for certain are, or maybe you could say that they are less inhibited. A Internet meme springs to mind “Meanwhile in Germany - gimpboarding”
- Are we all perverts? Well, I guess it all depends on who you ask. If you ask a religious freak in the Mid-west, certainly we are. However, the gimpboarders mentioned above most likely considers us dreadfully lame.
- Are authors normal people and only their acqaintence are perverts? I'd say there are both, just like there are good cops and bad cops, but to me in general the authors here have a streak inside that, if they are not part of the scene, at least allows them to imagine and express this particular kink.
- Is this a quote from somewhere? Most likely.

Spankos and subsets of likes such as bottom, breast and legs are all a part of a misunderstood community. We're lumped in with the the leather crowd. For s it could be slips,, pantyhose, uniforms, visible panty lines, school settings, cheerleaders of legal age . These were all discussed in print in my abnormal psychology book at university.

Then there's role/play. It's theater of the mind with real drama come to life.

Before the internet these fantasies existed, but were limited to the adult bookstores and mail order. Sadly, a vanilla who has no problem having the pain of needles continuously drilled into their skin looked down on a dear friend in the scene 'spanking between adults with a critical eye.

In closing, I would like acknowledge the efforts of the library who give us a place to express ourselves, contribute stories and most importantly communicate with others through comments. They make us all feel like we belong somewhere. Lastly, I would like to thank the pioneers who took me under their wing and helped me over eleven years ago to become a contributor with creative stories and inspiring comments. That is how we thank those who have passed and those who took us under their wing. That's why I spend time to comment on many stories like past members from Canada, United Kingdom and Australia. I try to acknowledge as an author, 'Cherry Red' every comment a reader has contributed because that's how we all can give back to this amazing site. A site that doesn't make us feel like the word that got my dander up in the first place.

That was actually not J. Draper saying that, it's quotes from two other tumblr accounts:

I wish I could remember the site that uses this Lewis Carroll quote.

The Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad?
Alice: I'm afraid so. You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

It's nice to see that so many of the "best people" are on this site. I'm very grateful for the help, the thoughtful questions, and support that I find on this site.

I think we create things to satisfy ourselves. Then, we may, or may not, need to share. To find like minded "perverts." As an aside, it's taken me many years to think of myself, not as a pervert, but simply as an individual, who wants to find like minded individuals.

@ Glagla aka Gloup

This quote made me watch the video. Watching something about dolls made me feel like a pervert.

My assumption is that anyone delighted in anything not vanilla is a pervert in Germany, especially if its related to xxx. The quote made it sound as if in English it's used in a far less restricted way.

In Germany anything spanking related makes you a pervert in a bad way, while in English you might only be non conform.

@Noah

That is not a Lewis Carroll quote, it's a Tim Burton quote. It's from the movie, not the book. Still an excellent quote, though.
